A visitation will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012, at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, with a funeral service immediately following beginning at 2:00P PM, with Pastor Dan Maguire Sr. officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.

Obituary Notice
Passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, at his home with family by his side. Elmer was born on November 8, 1935, in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of the late Elmer and Johanna (DeBruin) Kinney Sr. Elmer graduated from Kalamazoo Central, and attended Western Michigan University. He was a hard worker who was employed for many years with the Eckrich Meat Company, and would later own and operate two Sav-A-Step Food Marts in Louisville, KY. Elmer loved people and his kind personality and honest nature made him a friend to many. On April 13, 1962, he married the love of his life, Nancy A. (Hopkins) Kinney who survives. Together they would eventually move to Florida and have lived in St. Petersburg for the last nine years. They also spent many summers at Clifford Lake in Stanton, MI. Elmer was a loving family man who was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a strong faith in God which he instilled in his family. When not working, he loved to hunt, fish, and watch deer. He also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Nanette (Darryl) Arnett, and Diana (Julius) Stoess; two grandchildren, Jennifer Stoess and Wesley (Amanda Ireland) Stoess; two great-grandsons, Adrail “Scooter” and Arden Stoess; two brothers, James “Tim” (Lynn) Kinney and Philip (Mary) Kinney; many nieces, nephews and great friends. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Donald Kinney and a sister, Carolyn Kennedy.
